WEST COUNTY NEWS
St. Louis County has a new police chief…Col. Juan Cox. He was appointed by the Board of Police Commissioners and sworn in on June 9th. Previous police chief, Col. Kenneth Gregory, retired. New police chief Cox has been with the department since 1995 and is excited to continue in this new role. Over the years, he’s started many crime prevention programs and is well loved among the community. Congrats to him!! Also happening in St. Louis County, three candidates for the next St. Louis County executor position met recently at a forum to discuss their plans as executor. Republican Dennis Hancock, Democrat Sen. Brian Williams and St. Louis County Assessor Jake Zimmerman were in attendance. All agreed that economic growth needs to be a top initiative but they had differing plans to get there. West Newsmagazine has a nice article highlighting some of their views. Lastly, a new bill that wanted to implement more regulations on solar panels in Clarkson Valley got rejected. Some of these regulations dealt with physical placement of them on the roof (for example only placed on back or side of roof, not visible from front) and have solar energy systems like solar panels approved by the board of aldermen.
