You can see above on the events list that it’s Ballwin Days this weekend. For those new to the area, this beloved festival has been going on for 49 years now! It is the quintessential summer experience that every kid (and adult for that matter) looks forward to. Rides, games, live music and fireworks…something for everyone. Check it out if you never have before! In Wildwood, talks among city officials, the mayor and the public continue to go on regarding commercial buildings and drive-throughs. Some see the need for more business development in the area and others want to make sure it doesn’t end up looking like busy Manchester Road. One thing is for sure, there is careful thought going into it and discussions on the pre-zoning of four specific sites has been postponed so that the department has more time to review regulations. In Chesterfield, the aquatic center is going to be replaced. How that will be paid is something that is in discussions and could potentially show up on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot. Two questions would go on there…1) Should Chesterfield issue $34.5 million in general obligation bonds to build a new pool and 2) Should Chesterfield establish a 1% local use tax to repay the bonds. If it’s approved to issue the bonds and rebuild but the local use tax is not approved then there could be an increase in property tax by about $71.82. If the local use tax is approved then the 1% would apply to purchases from out-of-state vendors, like online and catalog purchases. I’m sure more information on this will be shared to Chesterfield residents.
