In Chesterfield, the Chesterfield Aquatic Center is nearing its expected life cycle of 30-50 years (built in 1997). It is scheduled to be shut down in August of 2027. The city is wanting to gather information on what the residents want out of this space…another aquatic center, demolished with green space. I will be sure to communicate when and how they plan to gather resident feedback. Also in Chesterfield area, the Westland Acres community has been begging for years to be developed. This area, if you’re unfamiliar, dates back 1881 when William West and his wife Pollie purchased 150 acres on what was then a remote area of St. Louis County. They were recently freed slaves. The area is rich with history but still is on a well water and residents have been wanting new development for a while. Recently, plans for a new development were submitted at the Chesterfield Planning Commission’s Aug. 25 meeting. Rezoning would have to take place as well. No update on status yet but definitely movement. And a congrats to Maty Mauk, a former University of Missouri quarterback, who is now the head football coach at Principia School in Town and Country. It’s football season!!

BUSINESS OF THE WEEK: This week I’m highlighting The Nifty Sparrow!! As you may be able to guess from the picture, she sells candles but not just any candle! She makes everything by hand including many of the containers that the candles are in. She is a friend of a friend of mine and when I came across her candles and her business, I just had to share with you all. Read my blog post to learn more about this amazing local business!
